Um. I am kinda FREAKING. OUT.

Just kinda though. In case you thought I had lost all perspective.

I was tested a couple of weeks ago for Celiac Disease. Which is, simply put, a gluten allergy. You know, gluten. That thing that is in EVERYTHING we eat. Ok. Well, the yummy stuff.

And guess what? My test results came back mildly positive. I have no idea what that means. But there you go. My doctor reccomends a gluten free diet. I don't even know if I can eat my dinner.

Crap.

Awww....bummer. But you know what -- my mom has the same thing. She just figured it out a couple years ago. I know she has some pretty good gluten free recipes, so I'll ask her what a couple of her best ones are. (She has a gluten free death by chocolate cake which is amazing. You're probably not too worried about eating cake right now, but you know. If you ever need to celebrate a birthday or anything.)

Ack! So sorry to hear about that big hassle! Good luck to you (and visit my friend Kristy's blog whose husband just recently got the same diagnosis: http://kwildung.blogspot.com/2009/02/seems-like-40-is-new-60-around-here.html )

Yuck....that will make family dinners interesting, gluten free, low carb, low sodium, fat free...maybe we will just serve tree bark or something! We just had Z man tested for allergies and he is allergic to pretty much every enviromental allergy you can think of mold, grasses, hay, dust mites, then add pets, horses, dogs, cats and we haven't even done food testing yet. So we will see, he might be gluten free with ya!

Uggga. Next step is to test the kids, since it is totally hereditary. Scarlett - you should test A. That's why we went down this path to begin with. That Gastro doc said we should test SP, and since I had some symptoms we tested me too. I have the order to get her blood draw done at the hospital, just haven't made it over there. I guess Will should get tested too.

Blergh. I'm just kind of reading and researching right now. But this AM I was like, "What am I supposed to eat for breakfast??" LOL.

My SIL found out a couple years ago that she is allergic to gluten. I subscribed to a couple of email feeds and have been collecting recipes for her. I'll send you that info.

There is gluten free beer, I can't think of the name of it. Haven't ever tried it either.

One of the sites is glutenfreeda.com - it sends a weekly recipe. The other is glutenfreeclub.com. Both sites want you to pay money to have more access, but I just get their weekly recipes.
